Somerville corporation protests for unions, doesn't always hire them

The Somerville Community Corporation has joined in the protests for union jobs at one of the city’s largest construction sites, but in its own history of building development, SCC has had a more complicated relationship with organize labor.

Unlike the builders in charge of the 199-unit MaxPac residential housing complex on an old factory site off Lowell Street, SCC is a non-profit organization. While MaxPac is planning to rent three-bedroom apartments in the development for $3,000 each,
