Senator: Require rental car firms to fix recalled vehicles

Washington -- A Democratic senator wants to bar rental car companies from renting unrepaired recalled vehicles. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., has proposed the Safe Rental Car Act to close a "dangerous loophole."

Under current law, any car under a recall notice cannot be sold by an auto dealer until the safety issue has been resolved, but that same restriction does not apply
