City still debating short-term rental rules

Owners of vacation-rental properties in Santa Fe neighborhoods have until next week to renew their operating permits from the city for 2011.

The merits of the program to regulate short-term rentals are still being debated nearly three years after it was adopted. Tonight, city councilors plan to discuss a lawsuit filed in 2008 by property owners who claim the rules were onerous and the fees arbitrary.
